unmobile phone

kates phone decided it didn't want to pick up any signal. it decided this a couple of days ago. it was very inconsiderate so i grassed it up. well, i phoned up three customer services and after a really freaky 3-way phone conversation (me at work, kate at home and mr three at three) deciding whether i could really speak on kate's behalf we found out what the problem was. well, sort of...

the reason that kate's phone has had no signal, even though it is identical to mine, is erm... how did he put it..? something along the lines of the new lg and nokia three phones are having some power problems. but not the actual phones, it's the masts that are having problems communicating with the phones so the net result being that the network thinks the phones are switched off... for some reason i think you're going to be as baffled as i was. anyway, they promised it'd be sorted in the next 24 hours.

tomorrow i will learn whether or not three stick to their word!

in addition to yesterdays posts i also found out that the hill top inn looks very good now it's been refurbished. it reopened last night so we had to go in and see!

newthing version 1.3

version 1.0 was the original funny-looking orange effort, version 1.2 was when i figured out how to change the colours and now version 1.3 has the extra feature of a 'shout box'. after a bit of googling i found out where i can get one of these for free and without any annoying adverts - hurrah!

basically what this means is you can leave me a bunch of mesages n stuff, insult me, tell me what a waste of time this whole idea is, tell me what you learnt today etc etc etc. audience participation - it works for pantomime, so why not the pantomime that is my life? (wow, deep...)

i also learnt today that the powers that be still don't know whether or not they're going to renew my contract - like i already told them they have until tuesday at 1.30pm to let me know cos that's when my interview is. and i want it in writing, not just verbal!

i have to offer my congratulations to my dad who sent his first ever text message today - he's had the phone since christmas! it contained the phrase "you'll notice that i've sent one of these things. but it's taken me 30 times longer than anyone else would take". fantastic! shame he'll never read this congratulatory message as he has this fear of anything remotely technological (except for remote controls and teletext - i keep telling him the internet is like teletext but faster, nicer looking and with a lot more breasts).

yesterday today, or is it?

i'm writing this on the 18th but cos i'm clever i've made it look like it's the 17th! aren't i good? no? ok then... how about this - it's currently 8.54am but i'm making it say 5pm? am i clever yet? what do i need to do to persuade you??

anyway, the reason i'm writing yesterdays (actually today's cos i changed the date) entry is that i went home in the afternoon with a scorcher of a migraine. not too bad now (wednesday).

so, what i learnt yesterday has nothing to do with what i've already written. i found out when my dad was able to have his scan, which is one less thing to worry about.

i also learnt that kate's leg is slightly better in that it's not hurting as much now. however, after ensuring me that it didn't hurt as much as before, "look, i can walk round now without hobbling", she went one step further with "look, i can even hop"... she shouldn't have done... 2 hops and a wince later she was sincerely regretting pushing her luck! nevermind eh?

that'll do for now - see ya today/tomorrow/whatever... time travel is so confusing, michael j never seemed to get this confused!

yayayayayayayayaya

kick ass - got a phone call from biochemistry department offering me a job interview for the job i applied for the other week. that's next tuesday. i sent my line-manager an email saying basically 'i've got this interview, you now have 5 days to give me a definate decision about renewing my contract or you risk losing me' :)

rude and busted

i'll try make this entry slightly more interesting to read than the last few shorties!

so, oddly enough i found myself downloading busted songs over the weekend... they do a great version of the undertones' "teenage kicks" although they do get a word wrong. they sing "you're the best i've ever had" when it should actually be "never had" cos the songs about pleasuring oneself (getting teenage kicks right through the night). there can't be that many songs about wanking that made it into the charts! busted also do a rather cool version of the black eyed peas' "where is the love".

after listening to the album i downloaded i realised (i.e. learnt) that they're actually quite rude lyrics for a kid's pop band (which, let's face it, is what they are). sample lyrics include:

air hostess: Occupied my mind writing you a love letter / I messed my pants / When we flew over France / Will I see you soon in my hotel room / For a holiday romance / Air hostess.

falling for you: You showed up at my door / Just like in a teen movie / I said are you a whore? / I beg to come and fuck me / I guess she found it funny / When I said "hello honey" / The piercing in her belly / They turned my legs to jelly / I, I'm really falling for you / I, hate what you're putting me through / What have you done to me now? / I just can’t sleep at night / My bed is wet don't know how / Will someone please turn on the light.

lyrics robbed without permission from dedicated_2_busted who probably used them without permission anyway...

i mean, these songs get into the charts and parents buy them for their kids! they should be banned like captain pugwash or at least marketed to slightly older people.

sorry if that seemed like a bit of a rant, i was just surprised at some of their lyrics - not that they shock me as such but i didn't expect it from a pop group. i never heard frankie goes to hollywood sing anything as rude...

so, in a nutsack, today i learnt that busted have some rather rude lyrics that are being force fed into our nations youth to bring forth a generation of perverts...

meet big ben and little small

today i watched 'big chef little chef' on cbeebies. what a fascinating program! marry mary quite contrary was in the cafe so big chef (real name ben) and little chef (real name small) made her some flower biscuits with sweets in the middle. however, it was not all as simple as that because big chef had eaten the sweets earlier in the day so little chef had to fly off on his wooden spoon to get some more.

what a weird program! i'd never seen it so i learnt what it was like. and boy, do i feel better for it...

it was closely followed by 'clifford the big red dog' - a red dog? a dog that grows when you love it? these kid's programs are just surreal!!
