one week hiatus
this morning i learnt that the c-beebies program i watched was actually called 'big cook, little cook' and not 'big chef, little chef' as previously reported... sorry.....
also, i'll not have any interwebnet access for the next week or so which means i'll have to carry on later on. if i remember i'll make a few notes as to what i learn each day in the mean time.

anniversary anthems
a few things i have learnt today, but i'm about to go out so it may be a bit rushed and not mention all of them...
don't eye up girls whilst out driving with the wife on the wedding anniversary... we were driving along and at some traffic lights / road works there was a lass wanting to pull out and i thought to myself 'if she smiles at me i'll let her pull out'. she didn't smile so i didn't let her out. wife said to me 'i thought you were going to let her pull out' so i told her my idea of if she smiled she could go. she said: 'why's that then? cos she has brown hair?' (knowing that i prefer brunettes to blondes) and my response was 'no, she had nice tits'. i got hit. i learnt my lesson...
i also learnt something about someone after i had already dropped myself into something... whoops! no names mentioned to avoid any embarrasment! but surely, if people have complexes about such weird things they should let me know beforehand so i know what not to say!
anyway, off for a meal now :)

dilemma dilemma dilemma....
just had the interview at the 'other place' which went ok, but i thought the job was a bit crap (that's what i learnt - the rest will be me going on about it!). it really wasn't what i thought it would be but i was evil and caniving (spelling?) and made it look like i wanted it - that way i stand more of a chance of being offered the job. i wouldn't take it if it was offered though, i'd just use it to make sure i got a better offer at my current place if the threat of me leaving becomes more real.
we'll see what happens - i've been promised a definate offer on the day i get back to work. let's hope it's one that i want!

last night and today
i was right when i said that i'd probably learn something new at the quiz. aren't i a clever boy :) however, i think i need to work on it a bit more before i can promote myself to the level of psychic.
so, what did i learn? i'm sure all three of you are dying to find out and one of them already knows the answer cos she (wilma) was sat next to me. what i learnt was the answer to the following question:
question: which vegetable is more often sold cooked than raw?
my answer: potato (eg chips, crisps, waffles etc)
real answer: beetroot
beetroot? that's what i thought as well... seems odd, doesn't it?! well, i don't know where pubman pat gets his info from but he says every week at the quiz that he's always right so it must be true. so i guess that means i have learnt that beetroot is sold more pre-cooked than raw or that pubman pat is an evil liar aiming to take over the world with his beetroot lies. either way i learnt something.
and, so, on to today...
my line-manager's line-manager came to see me this morning with some kind of job offer. it was all verbal but she said if i was interested she can get things sorted and in writing for when i get back from me jollies (tr: "my holidays"). it actually sounded quite good - i'd spend half my time working as a research technician and the other half as a teaching technician - now that probably sounds really dull to most people but it's actually a good thing!
i need to order my tickets for bowling for soup as well... (i thought if i write it here then it'll help me to remember!)
